About Five Points, Colorado

Throughout Denver's illustrious history, Five Points has been a mecca for music and culture. While the likes of Duke Wellington and Charlie Parker once roamed its historic avenues, Five Points is now host to Cleo Parker Robinson’s dance studio, Roundtree Arts Center and the Black American West Museum. It was originally created as a fashionable Denver suburb in the 1860s. From the 1870s to the 1900s, Curtis Park was a neighborhood made up of middle and upper-middle class residents, but the area hit on hard times. With the help of a historic designation in 1975 and recent “gentrification,” Curtis Park is returning to its roots as a vibrant, urban neighborhood.

Today, residents of the Five Points enjoy the recently termed “ballpark” area, where an eclectic flea market, the LoDo Music Festival, and an endless row of restaurants and hardware-houses offer good times and screamin’ deals. Though decidedly urban, Five Points offers green space to escape to as well; it’s home to Denver’s very first public open space, Mestizo-Curtis Park.
