A personal note: One of my missions in life is to express my values in tangible ways - to live what I believe. What matters most to me? Community, a collective voice, and a future of opportunity for all of our children. When thinking about how I could support these things from my little corner of the world in Congress Park, the first thing that came to mind was my daughters’ school, the Girls Athletic Leadership School (GALS). GALS is a very special place that empowers girls to succeed academically, lead confidently, live boldly, and thrive physically. I am in awe on a daily basis that this is available for my daughters in a school setting. A percentage of every real estate commission now supports either a family assistance fund, which provides relief to school families facing short-term crises; or the GALS Series, which is an intentional classroom space where girls are given the opportunity and framework to deeply explore elements of themselves as well as the world around them. I am contributing in this way for two reasons. First, I truly admire this school and what they do every day for my kids. The heart of this place is so special, it has forever impacted both of my daughters’ lives and mine as well. It is a privilege to give back to a place that brings me so much. Second, it is an opportunity for me to learn how to give in a significant way and see what is possible when I am part of a culture of generosity.
