Welcome to Lafayette
Lafayette originated as a coal mining community in 1889, but today is known for its small town hospitality, coupled with convenient access to the metropolitan area. Located in southeast Boulder County, Lafayette is bordered north and east by the town of Erie, east and south by the city of Broomfield and southwest by Louisville, and is just a 30 minute drive to Denver. With a population of just over 100,000, Lafayette is an ideal location to call home due to great education, recreation, climate, health care and community services.
The historic Old Town business district located in the heart of Lafayette is an attractive area featuring coffee shops, boutiques, antique galleries, restaurants, museums and more. Nineteen miles of great trails connect neighborhoods, businesses, and other popular destinations. The active community residents are able to enjoy walks on the trails with panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains as well as the Boulder Flatirons.
Lafayette’s festivals attract thousands of people each year. Their award-winning Oatmeal Fest, July 4th Celebration, Peach Fest, Brew Fest & Art Nights Out promote the small-town atmosphere admired by residents and visitors alike.
Lafayette home seekers benefit from a plethora of new housing communities, in addition to plenty of development on main street with new restaurants, shops and small businesses.
